Yep, this is what I see every time I go downstairs to do laundry. Sad isn’t it?
So, the plan is this….
-Paint walls (Which, looking at these pictures reminds me that these are actually more progress pictures since they’re already painted here. A beautiful pale yellow that really brightens the room up!)
-Paint floor (in the top picture you can see where someone started to paint the floor white and didn’t finish. Needless to say it hadn’t held up very well besides being unfinished.) Also possibly do some stenciling? Still haven’t decided on that.
-Add base trim.
-Rearrange and paint the shelving.
-Add cupboards or shelves above washer and dryer. Have to find some way to hide that ugly dryer hose. Unfortunately it has to stay right where it is. (Insert incredulous face here!)
-Build and install a proper washer and dryer stand. Underneath right now is cinder blocks because the washer sits on top of a big hole in the concrete. Not exactly sure what the hole is for but its there.
-Set up a laundry folding station so that laundry can be folded as soon as it comes out of the dryer so it doesn’t pile up elsewhere in the house waiting to be folded. NOT that THAT has EVER happened!!!! ;-D
-And possibly dig out the window well so that it will let in more natural light and I have room so I can plant some pretty flowers.
-Add a rug. The basement stays really nice and cool but if you’re aren’t wearing socks in winter it can be a little chilly. Think ice water dumped over your head chilly! (Okay, so that might be exaggerating a little but it IS cold!)
Finished pictures coming soon! I’m still on the painting the floors phase but it’s coming along…
