House Renovation

Here is a sneak peek of our house before we started renovations. It was awful! Carpet in every room, including the bathroom and kitchen and the smoke smell was terrible. In some of the pictures you can see the smoke stains on the walls from years of someone smoking in the home. Yuck! Anyways, this was the canvas we had to work with when we started. I can’t wait to show you the end result! 🙂 But for now….

The Bathroom – As you can see it’s such a welcoming place. Honestly though. The smell was horrible, the carpet was nasty, nasty, nasty and the tub looked like it could fall through the floor any second! :-O We’re working on a complete gut job on this little room and already it is 110 times better.

I have to admit that whoever picked the finishes in this room was at least adventurous. Maybe.

The dining room – More carpet, horrible smoke stains on the walls and a blackened shade over the sliding door. At least the light fixture is actually decent. 🙂

Other side of the dining room, looking into the living-room. The built in’s are rather sad, and carpet as baseboards?!?!? Hmmm, not a fan!

Looking from the dining into the kitchen. Notice the smoke stains above the plate shelf?

The kitchen – More smoke stains, ratty carpet and a ceiling fan. This house had a ceiling fan in the kitchen, and both bedrooms. Interesting. Also a faux copper backsplash behind the stove. All the appliance’s were in good shape and cleaned up nicely though.

Living-room – This is one half of it. This picture doesn’t really do it justice. The staining on the walls was really, really bad and the fireplace brick was actually a really dingy salmon color. You can’t tell either but all the ceilings were popcorn ceilings.

Looking at these pictures reminds me just how far the house has come in the short time we’ve owned it and helps me to be a little more patient in regards to finishing up the rest. 😉

Well, that’s it for now. Thanks for stopping by and if you have your own DIY reno you’re blogging about, send me the link. I’d love to check it out! 🙂

Blessings,

Hannah
